Arthur S. hafer, 69, S Oley R.D. 2, died Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. Born in Oley Township, a son of the late James and Mary (Schaeffer) Hafer, he was a self-employed farmer before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Lyons Fire Co.; Oley Fire Co., Earl Township Fire Co. and the Pike Township Sportsmens Assn. Surviving are his widow, Mamie B. (Yoder) Hafer; two sons: Eugene and Linwood, both of Oley R.D. 2; five daughters: Evelyn, wife of Leon Heacock, Boyertown R.D. 3; Mary Ellen, wife of Gene Sanders, Douglassville R.D. 2; Barbara, wife of Gerald Toms, Boyertown; Joanne, wife of Melvin Angstadt, Earlville; Pauline, wife of Curtis Rhoads, Oley R.D. 1; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. One sister, Esther, wife of Wayne Moyer, Fleetwood; two brothers: Walter, Oley R.D. 2, and Paul, Boyertown. Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Daniel R. Christ FuneralHome, Oley, the Rev. Charles Willman officiating. Burial will be made in Lobachsville Cemetery.

        Augustus Hafer9,19 was born on 11 August 1833 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. He died on 1 October 1877 at the age of 44 in Reading, PA. He was buried in Aulenbach Cemetery, Reading, PA. Same cemetery plot also has an uncle Obediah and grandparents Henry and Sarah. Reported by Hafer web site to be married to Sarah E. Paulsgrove, 17 Oct 1849 - 18 Feb 1904, Reading, and Leah Hoffman, 1835 - 20 May 1892, buried Charles Evans.

        Augustus Hafer and Mary Ann Snyder were married about 1855 in Reading, PA. Mary Ann Snyder19 was born on 27 January 1831. She died on 13 August 1916 at the age of 85 in Reading, PA. She was buried in Aulenbach Cemetery, Reading, PA. Daughter of John and Esther Snyder. Her father died 1851, leaving three minor children of whom Sarah Ann is under 14 years of age. Daniel B. Kutz chosen by court. Resided 1234 Chestnut Street, Reading. In 1880 census, Mary Ann, age 48, widow, resided 1234 Chestnut Street, Reading. Both parents are noted as born in Germany. In 1900 census she notes she had 7 children, 6 are living.

AUGUSTUS HAFER, aged 26 years, son of Obadiah and the late Mary (nee Fehr) Hafer, died at Mont Alto. The body was brought to this city and taken to the residence of deceased's father, at 318 Miller St. Besides his father, deceased is survived by a brother Harold, and these sisters: Bertha, Edna, Gertrude, Mabel and Mary, at home. Deceased was last employed at Earl's paper store. He was a member of St. Andrew Reformed Church, the Y.P.S. of the same congregation and camp 212, P.O.S. of A. Internment in Aulenbach's Cemetery. Undertaker T.C. Auman had charge.

Lillian M., (Bowman) wife of William A. Hafer, aged 48 years, died Wednesday evening at 4:10 of pleural pneumonia, after three weeks' illness, at her residence, 1219 Chestnut street. She was born in this city, a daughter of the late William and Mary C., (Kissinger) Bowman, and always lived here. She attended St. Luke's Lutheran church. Besides her husband, she is survived by these brothers and sisters: Abraham, William H., Mrs. Catherine Wise; Mrs. Alice Eckert and Mrs. Bertie Romig, all of this city.

Beatrice L. (Hafer) Kingree, 77, of Boyertown, wife of the late Blair N. Kingree, passed away on Sunday, July 26 at Hearthstone at Amity in Douglassville.

Born in Lorane, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Annie (Reidenauer) Hafer.

Beatrice was a member of St. John Hill UCC Church in Boyertown.

She worked at Thomas Restaurant in Reading and then at Woodside Restaurant in Boyertown.

She was a good and loving grandmother and a devoted mom who will be missed.

Surviving are daughters: Shelly Beekley, wife of Glenn; Dottie Fronheiser, wife of Dale; and Stephanie DellaCroce, wife of Robert; brother, Jack Hafer, husband of Carole; sisters, Nancy Miller and Betty Lou Herb; sister-in-law, Pam Hafer; and grandchildren: Paige and Drew Fronheiser and Nicole and Matthew DellaCroce.

Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Robert Hafer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilbertsville, and on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at the church.

A funeral service will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at St. John Hill UCC Church, 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown, PA 19512, with Rev. Christian Creyer, officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beatrice's name to the St. John Hill UCC Memorial Fund at the above church address.
